Words

Seasons will pass, and days will slip away,

Words will shift, just like the winds that sway.
Even the sweetest words once spoken,
Can turn bitter, their promise broken.

Those who said, “I’ll always be near,”
May disappear when trials draw near.
Mortal words will fade and bend,
Even firm pledges may meet their end.

The gentle words we once believed,
Nowhere to be heard when hearts are grieved.
Instead, what echoes in my ear
Are flames disguised as words I hear.

He who once said, “Tomorrow I’ll come,”
Now bids farewell, silent and numb.
As time repaints its shades and skies,
So too do words don new disguise.

Yet one word stands, unshaken, true—
A word that only God can renew.
Even in sorrow’s deepest hour,
His voice will whisper grace and power.

He who said, “I am with you still,”
Speaks words the soul forever will feel.
He who vowed never to let go,
Will stay with me for all eternity.

Like love with no boundaries or end,
Like mercy that no shore can defend,
Forever strong, forever near—
His words will last unto the end.
